First Dragon Warrior Renegade

Hello folks,
I thought I would share some progress with you.  I have been trying to hammer out the green stuff work on my marines (More pictures will follow soon, I promise) and part of that plan was to do a raised Dragon Warrior icon on the shoulder pads.  That plan got scraped after a week of trying to make it work, so Onto painting.

Here is my first painted Dragon warrior, the power weapon is air brushed, as is the base coat.  I need more practice air brushing but that will come in time.

Let me know what you think, I'm looking for ways to improve.

Dragon Warrior Terminator

Hello All, quick post.

Here is my first Dragon Warrior Assault Terminator.  I realized today that I had a lot of salamanders bits and ordered some more that have not arrived so I will be making use of them in my Dragon warrior army along side my own custom icons.  Most of the bits are Dragon heads and scale plating so it should come together nicely.
I still need to make a custom Dragon warrior shoulder pad for my Terminators and pin them to their proper bases.  All in all I like how he looks and cant wait to start painting my army.  Who knows I may reach my goal and have it finished by November for the local FLGS tournament.

Experiment in Molding

Much like many of you out there I wish I had more of one specific bit or piece to use on my minis.  Be it a Terminator head or shoulder pad icon or weapon.  GW likes to build its kits in ways that require us to buy multiple ones, examples are blasters in dark Eldar, Missile launchers in Space wolves, and combi weapons.  So I decided to experiment with replication of bits I plan to use for my dragon warriors.

Here is the result of my first two part Mold, The terminator helm is 100% Greenstuff and for my own use only.  On a side note, I would appreciate any tips on making Green stuff stronger.
Edits from Comments.
I used a two part mold made from insta mold. I had to make the bottom mold first then do the top. I also designed my mold halves to fit in a pair of 25mm bases. Doing that let me press the two halves in a vice to press out extra green stuff and allow it to cure. This leaves some hellish flash but that was easily cut away with a knife and steady hand.

And WarFog was kind enough to post his guide on casting with Procreate which can be found Here @ Warfog's Blog.

Incoming Dragon Warriors and shoulder pad Sculpts

Hello all,

I admit I have fallen away from the Empire,  been seduced to rebellion and alliance with Khorne.  But does this really surprise most as my fantasy army is a 90% mono Khorne army?

But keeping in line with my love for Salamanders I decided to do their renegade chapter, the Dragon Warriors.  I also do not like nor agree with the Chaos Space marine codex.  Why leave behind all that equipment and munitions when you rebel?  So I decided to use the Space Marine Codex for a rebel chapter of Dragon warriors.  This allows me to do a few things.

First use Vulcan as Captain Terellus, The leader of the Dragon warriors.  Which also leads to me having to build a new model for him to represent him WYSIWYG.
Second I don't need to buy a new marine army, or loose any of the sculpting work I have done so far.

On the note of sculpting, I am not the best in the world, in fact I just started out.  We all need to start someplace however and here is my first real sculpt, followed by the press mold duplicate.

Herald of Khorne WIP Part 2

Well here he is my completed herald of Khorne with a BSB,  as previously stated I modeled him wearing Armor of Khorne.  A very simple conversion but everyone has to start some place.

I have a few more heralds to construct, namely a second Herald of Khorne without a BSB, a Herald of Tzeentch with winged Horror Gift, and a Herald on a jugger.  So without further text here are more pictures of my herald and how it looks in my nearly finished pack of bloodletters (I still need to try and freehand the standard.)
I am still learning how to use my crappy 4 year old hand me down camera,  Thanks Zerodaimaru For the advice on the little flower icon.

On the Salamanders Front

Greetings readers,

Tonight I played my first 40k game, My salamanders army managed to hold their own despite the odds being stacked against me.  First we played on my dining room table which is half the size of a normal table, Second my opponent fielded raiders.

To sum up the fight it went like this:
Round one raiders cover 3/4 of the table, I move my marines into cover.
Round two: witches disembark, fleet 6, and assault 6.  I loose 10 marines. I shoot he looses 10 witches.
Round 3: His witches fleet, then assault and I loose the rest of my troops.

Lets get this Started.

Greetings,

So this is my first post and I thought I would start it off with my first Salamander Model.  Currently I am using my cell camera for taking pictures, but I will be "Borrowing" my wifes camera to make use of the macro function.

Another thing I hope to do in the near future is build a cheap light box for better picture lighting.  I think I am going to use the one outlined in this post, How to Make An Inexpensive Light Tent – DIY.

So what do I plan on doing with this blog? I want to use it to document my progress in my hobby.  To post images of my models, and as a record of my progression.  I will also be posting experiments I am doing with basing and customizations.  And if your lucky I might even add some interesting code snippets for stuff I do for work that I could not find any reliable up to date examples of on the web.
Thats about all for today.
